Bye Bye Browns

Intense Pulsed Light Treatment, aka IPL is one of the most popular treatments to address discoloration, pigment, and any type of brown spots that appear on the face.

The effects of the sun, aging, pollution and other irritants can cause skin to become dull, spotty, and wrinkled over time. An IPL treatment can address all of these issues and get you back to the smooth, clear skin you had in your younger days.

Not only does the IPL address the suns, browns, and age spots, this photofacial treatment will kick-start your collagen and shrink your pores.

Your IPL Treatment

The average IPL facial treament begins with a cleanse and exfoliation by your master esthetician. to prepare your skin for the IPL portion

  • It is important. to remember to avoid certain over the counter meds such that can increase the risk of brusing such as aspirin – or any photosensitizing medication like Retinol about 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Self tanners or sun exposure should also be avoided prior to treament (7+ days)

The IPL Treatment takes about 30 minutes (depending upon how many spots are being addressed) and is minimally uncomfortable. -most patients claim if feels like a slight rubberband snap against the skin.

Your skin may be slightly red for an hour or two following your procedure but generally there is no downtime.

Post Treatment and Results

Generally, IPL is a one time treatment and you start to see the effects of your treatment about 3-4 days post (so consider this when scheduling).

A few days after your IPL you will notice dark spots (coffee grounds look) in the areas where your browns are. This is the underlying pigment coming to the surface of your skin. After another day or two those coffee grounds will slough off with your dull skin revealing smoother tone and texture.

  • It is imperative to avoid sun exposure for the first 2 weeks after your treatment.

In addition to less spots, you will notice your skin is smoother and your pore size has shrunken.

Depending upon how stubborn (and numerous) your spots are you may need multiple treatment to achieve complete eradication.

At Camas Medspa, your esthetician will be able to give you an idea of how many treatments you may need and will be able to create a package for you.
